Azad Shiksha Kendra (ASK) – Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh was registered as a Trust in 2004. It is a non-political and non-profit organization organization engaged in socio-economic up-liftment and welfare of poor and deprived sections of the society with a explicit focus on most backward and minority dominated regions of the state. The organization draws its ideeological strength from Gandhian ideals and secular and democratic values. It it has brought together a dedicated group of professionals like doctors, lawyers and social workers to address the developmental issues emerging in focal regions. Besides, there is a team of dedicated workers guided by voluntary spirit and social commitment.
As an organization we are essentially concerned with the elimination of child labour, protection of women, promotion of education and health care, rural livelihood enhancement and right to information etc.
And the programmes are largely focused on Muslim, Dalit and Musahar communities in Azamgarh and Allahabad districts, besides, of course, Jaunpur.
Rightsince the inception, the organization has undertaken large number of projects/programmes which enabled lakhs of people from partner communities to have better access to health care, nutrition, literacy and education, livelihood etc. The main thrust has been on women empowerment and child development. Strategically, we maintain better coordination and rapport with government agencioes/departments, PRIs, local NGOs/CBOs and women led organizations at various levels.

Mission
The organization is carrying forward its mission of developing educated, healthy and empoered communities by investing essentially in children, adolescents and women of Muslim, Dalit and other maginalized and excluded communities so as to enable them to participate in democratic development process.

Main objectives of the organization
Azad Shiksha Kendra is dedicated to fostering the development and empowerment of marginalized communities, disregarding any distinctions based on caste, creed, or religion. The organization aims to unite partner communities, enabling them to collaborate harmoniously and exercise their democratic rights and entitlements, ultimately contributing to the advancement of social democracy.
- To embark on initiatives aimed at fostering the growth and empowerment of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Muslim women, children, and youth.
- To work for the educational development of children of partner communities in the target area though strengthening of school and madarsa/maktab systems, mobilization of parents and teachers, removal of illiteracy and strengthening livelihood base.
- Promote Awareness: Increase awareness within the community about sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) by organizing educational campaigns, workshops, and awareness programs.
- Access to Information and Services: Facilitate access to accurate and comprehensive information on SRHR, as well as promote access to quality healthcare services, including family planning, contraception, safe abortion, and prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
- Advocacy and Policy Reform: Advocate for policies that protect and promote sexual reproductive health and rights at the community, regional, and national levels. Collaborate with policymakers, stakeholders, and relevant authorities to advocate for comprehensive SRHR services, ensure the provision of adequate resources, and address barriers and discriminatory practices.
- To organize and promote human rights organizations in the operational areas: provide facilities for better training, networking and institutional support.
